|25| Out of "Hair Hibernation" (for now)...Wanna See My "Twist-Out"?

Friday, 3.2.12...

So, if you've been following along, you know I've had my hair in hibernation for awhile.  More specifically, I've been protecting it by wearing two-strand twists and hats for the past few months.

Today, I was planning to prep for "hair day", (the day I set aside to shampoo or co-wash, deep condition, condition, etc.) and decided to untwisted my twists.  Welp!, this morning, once the untwisting was done, my intent was to get to the gettin' of "hair day"...that is, until I walked into the bathroom and looked in the mirror!  This is something I don't normally do.  Additionally, when I know I'm gonna shampoo/co-wash my hair without twists, I usually will untwist and separate my hair, which gives my hair 'fro appearance and less defined coils, and immediately get into the shower.  This morning, I simply just untwisted it while sitting on my bed watching TV and let the hair fall into it's place with minimal manipulation, then for whatever reason wanted to look at it first!  When I looked in the mirror, I was pleasantly surprised...not only were my coils on full display, but the back of my hair is now hanging past my shoulders UNTWISTED...AAAAAND it had much more movement than I had realized before!!  :)

My hair has pretty much been in hiding for several months, so I guess I've kinda forgotten what it looks like when it's freshly untwisted!  AND the growth is becoming more noticeable to me now.  Needless to say, I was "feelin'" my hair today!!  NOW, let's see how long this "twist-out" will last!  At any rate, of course, I'm feelin' the need to share!

Sidenote:  For those of you who are newly afro-textured, hopefully the pics I post are a source of inspiration and encouragement to show your hair potential...especially if you are tightly-coiled like yours truly.  Find (or home-make) products that will work best for YOUR hair and develop a consistent cleansing, conditioning, moisturizing, and styling routine...OH, and a lil (a LOT, actually) bit of patience will help, too!  LOL

Without further ado, here are the pics from today:
